Lateral thinking

an introduction by Frank Owarish

First an anecdote: I was highly fortunate to benefit from a fellowship of the UK Inter-University Council using the University of Manchester as a home base and going out to the London School of Economic, the University of Sussex-IDS, Oxford University-- Nuffield College. The University of Cambridge was not included in my fellowship program. I decided to take a personal trip to Cambridge  for a lecture by Professor Edward de Bono; I am glad that I did; this was a very eye-opening lecture indeed and in many ways changed my life in making me more productive than before in finding solutions to management problems. I bought his books, learned and applied the techniques of lateral thinking. A few years later, while working at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, I had yet another transcendental experience. A colleague by the name of Leonor Maia Sampaio brought Prof. de Bono to the UN to give a lecture and thanks to Ms. Sampaio I could sit and chat with Prof. de Bono; I had many questions of course and I got useful answers. I may be able in the future to invite you to a virtual conference by Prof de Bono right here in cyberspace.

Second,in the meantime you could benefit fully from learning and applying the lateral thinking techniques thanks to web technology
