Courses in international relations including international law and diplomacy (Frank Owarish, Ph.D.)
I was privileged to teach several grad courses for the Master's in International Relations at City College, City University for several years. I met several faculty members teaching for this program including the Director/Coordinator of the Program (at the time) i.e. Prof. Jacquie Braveboy-Wagner, a genius in international relations. I taught courses in International Organizations (including the UN system), International Law, Diplomacy (several courses over several years = educating hundreds of students). We played a crucial role in educating those who are now holding key positions in international relations; several of them are now ambassadors. We are glad that they are out there pushing the wheel of diplomacy forward, both in the multilateral and bilateral settings.
I was also privileged in my previous capacity of Director of Training at UNITAR to co-direct the training program in international law that provides an opportunity for participants from a large number of countries to benefit from UN scholarship to attend the program traditionally held in The Hague at the Peace Palace/Academy of International Law. Here again, I worked with several well known international lawyers who conducted training on a wide variety of aspects of international law and with the staff of the Academy of International Law. I not only co-directed the program but also conducted specific courses myself. I am glad that these international lawyers are out there pushing the wheel of international law forward; international law is such a vital element of our world community to function on the basis of established rules of law; these international lawyers are also contributing to the ongoing development of international law. Over the years, this Program has trained thousands of international lawyers; under my co-direction, the Program trained hundreds of participants.
