CENTER FOR DIPLOMATIC STUDIES

In a world which is increasingly international in nature i.e. with increasing transactions among nations, diplomacy is a tool of primary importance, on the one hand to keep the machinery of transactions properly 'oiled' and on the other hand to resolve conflicts and prevent them from escalating to violence or even to prevent conflict from arising. Diplomacy is pursued on a bilateral manner as well on a multilateral basis; both forms have their importance per se and also in how they relate to and complement each other. CDS aims at promoting an understanding of diplomacy, of its renewed importance and of its various tools and techniques. The key to international problem solving can be summarized in two words: diplomatic efforts.
